Causes of brainstem hemorrhage
Disease description:
My grandfather used to have slightly high blood pressure, and he's always been very careful about it. Today I heard he was hospitalized, apparently due to a brainstem hemorrhage. What are the causes of brainstem hemorrhage?
Brainstem hemorrhage is an acute and severe neurological disorder that commonly affects middle-aged and elderly individuals. In recent years, with improvements in living standards and the increasing prevalence of hypertension and atherosclerosis, there has been a trend toward younger age onset of brainstem hemorrhage. There are many causes of brainstem hemorrhage, among which hypertension is the most common; it results from elevated blood pressure causing rupture of small intracranial blood vessels.
