IgA nephropathy is primarily characterized by recurrent episodes of gross hematuria following infections, or microscopic hematuria observed under a microscope. Sometimes, patients may experience varying degrees of foamy urine, body edema, oliguria, and flank pain. Some patients may also develop hypertension or renal insufficiency. Without effective treatment, it may lead to complications such as acute kidney injury or end-stage renal failure.
