Nephrotic syndrome generally refers to nephrotic syndrome. If children with nephrotic syndrome develop edema, diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide or furosemide may be used under medical supervision to help reduce the swelling. In cases of acute inflammation, glucocorticoids such as prednisone or methylprednisolone may be administered under a doctor's guidance. During treatment, adequate rest is essential, along with restricting intake of water and sodium salt. A light diet should be maintained and infections should be prevented.
