Child's abdominal lymph nodes
Disease description:
Pediatrics
Abdominal lymph nodes in children help protect against viral and bacterial infections. Enlargement of abdominal lymph nodes may be caused by infection, inflammation, or tumors. When a child's abdominal lymph nodes become enlarged, parents should promptly take the child to see a pediatrician to determine the underlying cause. The pediatrician can diagnose the condition through physical examination, including palpation and observation of the lymph nodes, and may order further tests to establish a definitive diagnosis. If the enlargement is due to infection, the pediatrician will prescribe appropriate anti-infective medications based on the child's condition. If the enlargement is related to a tumor, the pediatrician will arrange additional tests to determine the nature of the tumor and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
