Sunburn is characterized by red, painful skin and requires prompt treatment. The following methods can help relieve symptoms:

1. Apply cold or ice water compresses to the sunburned area for 15–20 minutes at a time to reduce pain and swelling.

2. Apply moisturizing lotions or aloe vera gel, which help hydrate the skin and reduce inflammation. If pain is significant, oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, may be taken for relief. During this period, avoid further sun exposure and stay in shaded areas as much as possible.

3. In terms of diet, drink plenty of water and consume fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins C and E—such as oranges, kiwis, and spinach—to support skin healing.

4. Avoid scratching the affected area with your hands to prevent skin breaks and potential infection.

If symptoms worsen or are accompanied by other discomforts, seek medical attention promptly.
