Disease description:

Frequent dizziness, slightly affecting work and daily life; dry eyes, even yawning doesn't produce tears to moisten the eyes; hands also tremble without any apparent reason. A friend asked me if this might be due to liver and kidney deficiency. So, what are the symptoms of liver and kidney deficiency?

Liver and kidney deficiency is a common syndrome in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), primarily manifesting as dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia with frequent dreams, dry eyes and blurred vision, and dry skin. These symptoms arise from dysfunction of the liver and kidneys, leading to an imbalance of yin and yang and impaired flow of qi and blood in the body. Patients are advised to maintain regular daily routines, avoid excessive fatigue, and ensure adequate rest and sleep. Dietary regulation is also important; foods that nourish the liver and kidneys—such as black sesame seeds and mulberries—are recommended, while raw, cold, and greasy foods should be avoided. Additionally, under the guidance of TCM theory, herbal medicines that tonify the liver and kidneys and nourish yin while clearing heat—such as ginseng, Lycium barbarum (goji berries), and Angelica sinensis (Danggui)—can be used to alleviate symptoms caused by liver and kidney deficiency. Traditional TCM therapies such as acupuncture and cupping may also serve as complementary treatment options.
