Dr. Yang Ziqi
Normal liver and kidney function cannot completely rule out the possibility of liver or kidney disease. Although normal liver and kidney function generally indicates no obvious liver or kidney damage or failure, it does not mean there is no risk of underlying disease. Some early stages of liver and kidney diseases may not affect liver or kidney function, such as the early viral replication phase of hepatitis B or C, or the early stage of chronic glomerulonephritis. These diseases may present normal results in liver or kidney function tests but could progressively develop over time. Liver and kidney function tests are only one aspect of assessing liver and kidney health; they cannot capture all possible disease indicators. For example, indicators such as hepatitis virus markers, protein, and red blood cells in routine urine tests can also provide important information regarding liver and kidney health. Therefore, to comprehensively assess liver and kidney health, in addition to liver and kidney function tests, a comprehensive analysis should be conducted in conjunction with other relevant tests and clinical manifestations.
