Normal D-dimer range for pregnant women
Disease description:
I am an intern laboratory technician. Today, I would like to discuss the normal reference range of D-dimer in pregnant women.
The normal range of D-dimer in pregnant women varies depending on the stage of pregnancy. In the first trimester (≤13 weeks), the level is generally less than 0.64 mg/L; in the second trimester (14–27 weeks), the normal range is between 1.0 mg/L and 3.0 mg/L; during the third trimester (28–34 weeks), it increases to between 3.0 mg/L and 3.19 mg/L; and when gestational age reaches or exceeds 35 weeks, D-dimer levels typically do not exceed 3.19 mg/L. D-dimer is a degradation product of fibrin, and its concentration gradually increases with advancing gestation. It is a specific marker for diagnosing secondary fibrinolysis. Throughout pregnancy, D-dimer levels within the aforementioned ranges are generally considered normal.
