Symptoms of vitamin D deficiency
Disease description:
My child has generally been in good health and hasn't had any major illnesses. Recently, when we went to the hospital for a check-up, they said the child lacks vitamin D. I'd like to ask, what symptoms are usually associated with this condition?
When the body lacks vitamin D, a series of noticeable symptoms may occur. These symptoms mainly include sleep disturbances such as difficulty falling asleep and frequent night awakenings, which significantly affect sleep quality; muscle spasms due to increased muscle excitability, leading to localized muscle cramping or even pain; excessive sweating caused by overactive sympathetic nerves stimulating increased sweat gland secretion; and skeletal deformities such as square-shaped skull, rib flaring, and genu valgum (knock-knees). These skeletal changes occur because vitamin D deficiency impairs calcium absorption, and calcium is a crucial element for bone development. To address these symptoms, it is recommended to increase intake of vitamin D-rich foods such as egg yolks, animal liver, and salmon; get regular sun exposure to extend sunlight duration, which helps the body naturally synthesize vitamin D; and, under medical supervision, take vitamin D drops or vitamin AD softgel supplements. Combining these approaches can effectively alleviate symptoms of vitamin D deficiency.
