Disease description:

Yesterday my family cooked a lot of amaranth, and I've had stomach upset ever since in the evening. I think it might be due to food indigestion. May I ask what amaranth generally shouldn't be eaten with?

Amaranth, as a nutrient-rich vegetable, should be consumed with attention to proper food pairing in order to avoid adverse effects. Generally, amaranth is not recommended to be eaten together with certain foods such as wasabi or soft-shelled turtle. This is because amaranth is considered cold in nature, and wasabi is also a cold-natured food; consuming both together may intensify internal coldness, which is detrimental to health. Additionally, soft-shelled turtle, being a tonic ingredient, has properties that conflict with those of amaranth. Eating them together may reduce the nourishing benefits of the turtle meat and even cause gastrointestinal discomfort.

Although amaranth pairs well with most foods, it should still be consumed in moderation, avoiding simultaneous intake with excessively cold or hot-natured foods to maintain the body's balance. Individuals with a cold constitution or weak digestive systems should be especially cautious in selecting complementary ingredients to prevent unnecessary strain on the body.

Before consuming amaranth, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
