What causes itching in hemorrhoidal lumps?
Disease description:
Recently, I noticed a lump near the anus accompanied by itching. After a hospital examination, the doctor diagnosed it as hemorrhoids. What causes the itching in hemorrhoidal lumps?
The main causes of itching in hemorrhoidal lumps are as follows:
1. Prolapsed hemorrhoids: In severe cases of internal hemorrhoids, the tissue may prolapse during bowel movements or straining. If not properly cleaned, this can irritate the hemorrhoidal lump and cause itching.
2. Rectal polyps: When large rectal polyps protrude from the anal opening, they may discharge secretions from the anal canal or intestinal tract onto the surrounding area, irritating the tissue around the hemorrhoidal lump and causing itching.
3. Genital warts (condyloma acuminata): Small anal skin tags may become irritated, ulcerated, or exude fluid due to friction, leading to pain, a foreign body sensation, and itching.
4. Inflammation or edema: Inflammation or swelling of the hemorrhoidal lump itself can also lead to itching.
Other factors such as external hemorrhoids and perianal eczema may also contribute to itching. Patients are advised to maintain good local hygiene and adjust their diet and lifestyle habits. If symptoms persist, prompt medical evaluation is recommended.
