Symptoms of Candidiasis (Yeast Infection)
Disease description:
My genital area has recently become very uncomfortable, with occasional itching and pain. After examination, I was diagnosed with candidal vaginitis. I've never had this condition before. Could you please tell me what symptoms are associated with candidal vaginitis?
1. Itching of the vulva and vagina is the main symptom of this condition. The itching is severe and prolonged, especially worsening at night, which may significantly affect the patient's daily life and sleep.
2. Patients may experience a burning pain in the vulvar area, which can intensify during sexual intercourse and may be accompanied by pain or irritation during urination.
3. Increased vaginal discharge is another prominent feature. The discharge is typically thick and white, resembling curdled milk or cottage cheese, and may have a noticeable fishy odor.
4. Regarding treatment, patients should seek medical attention promptly and actively follow medical advice, including taking oral medications along with topical agents for cleansing the vulva.
5. During treatment, sexual activity should be avoided, and personal hygiene should be maintained, such as frequently changing and washing underwear and cleaning the vulva daily.
