How is endometritis caused?
Disease description:
Recently, I've had a significantly increased amount of vaginal discharge. After going to the hospital for an examination, I was diagnosed with endometritis. Could you please explain what causes endometritis?
The main causes of endometritis include the following:
1. Pathogen infection: This is the most common cause, involving bacteria ascending from the vagina and cervix to the endometrium, or reaching it via the lymphatic system, thereby triggering inflammation.
2. Surgical procedures and foreign body irritation: Intrauterine procedures such as unregulated abortions or insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices may lead to bacterial invasion and chronic irritation.
3. Personal hygiene issues: Poor personal hygiene, including sexual intercourse during menstruation and inadequate cleanliness, can easily contribute to endometritis.
4. Intrauterine lesions: Conditions such as endometrial polyps or submucosal uterine fibroids may predispose to endometrial infection.
Endometritis has diverse etiologies and requires comprehensive prevention and treatment strategies.
