How to read a B-ultrasound report
Disease description:
I'm pregnant and just had a prenatal checkup with an ultrasound. I don't know how to read the results—how do I understand the ultrasound report?
The ultrasound report is an important outcome of a medical ultrasound examination. When interpreting it, pay attention to the following points:
1. Hospital and patient information: Check the top portion of the report, which typically includes the hospital name, patient's name, gender, age, and the specific body part examined.
2. Ultrasound findings: The central section contains the ultrasound description, using professional terminology to detail the condition of organs or any abnormalities. This section may be difficult for non-professionals to understand, but it serves as a crucial basis for the physician's diagnosis.
3. Ultrasound impression/diagnosis: The bottom portion usually provides the ultrasound impression or diagnosis. If the result states "no obvious abnormality detected," it indicates that the examined area or organ is normal. If abnormalities are present, they will be clearly noted.
