Dr. Zhao Xiaodong
For a 5 mm Nabothian cyst of the cervix, the following measures may be taken: 1. Observation and monitoring: Given the small size of the cyst (5 mm) and absence of other symptoms, regular observation and follow-up monitoring for any changes may be recommended initially. 2. General management: Maintain good personal hygiene, especially during sexual activity; avoid unhygienic sexual practices and intercourse during menstruation to prevent further enlargement or infection of the cyst. 3. Medication: If cervical inflammation is present, anti-infective treatment may be indicated. Commonly used medications include cefixime and doxycycline. 4. Other treatments: If significant symptoms develop or the cyst increases in size, physical therapies (such as cryotherapy or laser therapy) or surgical interventions (such as marsupialization of cervical gland cysts) may be considered.
