Massage method for treating childhood constipation
Disease description:
The baby hasn't been eating well for the past couple of days and hasn't had a bowel movement for several days. I heard from the doctor that constipation can be treated with massage. What are the massage techniques for treating constipation in infants?
Massage methods for treating infant constipation:
1. Abdominal rubbing: Help the child lie flat, place the palm near the navel, and massage the abdomen in a clockwise direction for about 5 minutes to promote intestinal motility.
2. Pressing and kneading the Zhongwan acupoint: Locate the Zhongwan point (approximately four finger-widths above the navel), use the pad of the thumb to apply moderate pressure and perform circular kneading until the child feels slight discomfort, which helps relieve food stagnation.
3. Pressing the Tianshu acupoints: Identify the location of the Tianshu points (three finger-widths lateral to the midpoint of the umbilicus along the anterior midline), place the thumb pad on each point and press downward until the child experiences a sensation of soreness or fullness, helping enhance intestinal movement.
4. Kneading the Tianshu and Zusanli acupoints: The Tianshu points are located two cun lateral to the umbilicus, and the Zusanli point is three cun below the knee. Use the tip of the thumb or middle finger to knead each point 50–100 times to improve intestinal function.
