Symptoms of ureteral stones mainly include: 1. Pain: This is the most common symptom of ureteral stones. The pain is severe and intermittent, often presenting as colicky pain in the flank or upper abdomen. In severe cases, it may be accompanied by systemic symptoms such as pallor and decreased blood pressure. 2. Hematuria: As the stone moves within the ureter, it may injure the ureteral mucosa, leading to hematuria, which can be either microscopic or gross (visible to the naked eye). 3. Bladder irritative symptoms: These include urinary frequency, urgency, and dysuria, caused by irritation of the ureterovesical junction by the stone. 4. Hydronephrosis: Ureteral stones may cause urinary tract obstruction, resulting in ipsilateral hydronephrosis. Prolonged hydronephrosis can impair renal function. 5. Other symptoms: These include systemic signs of infection such as chills and fever, as well as gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea and vomiting.
