Disease description:
What are the symptoms of ureteral stones?

Symptoms of ureteral stones mainly include:
1. Pain: The most typical symptom is severe colicky pain in the flank or upper abdomen, which may occur intermittently and radiate to the groin, perineum, or even inner thigh. In severe cases, the pain can be excruciating.
2. Hematuria: Most patients with ureteral stones may develop hematuria. Gross hematuria is relatively rare, while microscopic hematuria is more common. The color of urine may range from light red to dark brown, indicating increasing amounts of blood in the urine.
3. Bladder irritation symptoms: When a stone becomes lodged at the ureterovesical junction, patients may experience symptoms of bladder irritation, such as urinary frequency, urgency, and dysuria.
4. Hydronephrosis: If the stone obstructs the ureter, it may lead to ipsilateral hydronephrosis. Prolonged hydronephrosis can result in impaired kidney function.
