What is hydrocele of the tunica vaginalis?
Disease description:
Recently, I always felt uncomfortable with a sensation of heaviness in the scrotal area. After going to the hospital for an examination, I was diagnosed with hydrocele. So, what exactly is a hydrocele?

Hydrocele testis is a common clinical condition characterized by an excessive accumulation of fluid within the tunica vaginalis cavity surrounding the testis, leading to the formation of a cystic lesion. This condition can occur at any age, but it is more frequently seen in children. Clinically, hydroceles are classified into four types according to the location of the fluid collection and the degree of closure of the processus vaginalis: isolated (or non-communicating) hydrocele, communicating hydrocele, hydrocele of the cord, and mixed-type hydrocele. The main symptoms include a cystic mass in the scrotum; when the fluid volume is large, it may cause discomfort and even affect urination and daily activities. The etiology of hydrocele testis is diverse and may be associated with local trauma, infection by pathogenic microorganisms, systemic diseases, and other factors.
