When does prostatitis require surgery?
Disease description:
If you have prostatitis with frequent and urgent urination, pelvic pain, in what situations would surgery be required for prostatitis?

Prostatitis may require surgical treatment in the following situations:
1. Concurrent benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): Surgery can be considered when patients older than 60 years have concurrent BPH, with post-void residual urine volume greater than 50 mL, or when accompanied by recurrent urinary tract infections or bladder stones.
2. Concurrent prostatic abscess: If imaging studies reveal an abscess within the prostate that causes fever or fails to return to normal temperature over a prolonged period, incision and drainage of the abscess is required.
3. Concurrent or suspected prostate cancer: During anti-infective treatment, if pathological examination confirms concurrent or suspected prostate cancer, radical prostatectomy should be considered.
