What complications can prostatitis cause?
Disease description:
Patients with prostatitis often experience pelvic pain and difficulty urinating, along with frequent and urgent urination. I would like to know what complications prostatitis may cause?

If prostatitis is not treated promptly, it may lead to a series of complications. Urinary difficulties may occur, such as acute urinary retention, which results from congestion and edema of the prostatic mucosa and increased urethral tension. Prostatitis may trigger seminal vesiculitis, leading to sexual dysfunction, including premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. Additionally, patients may suffer from pain, including discomfort in the perineal area, pubic region, and lower abdomen, with possible radiation of pain to the inguinal region or lower back. Prostatitis may also spread via the vas deferens to the epididymis, causing serious complications such as epididymitis or orchitis. Therefore, patients with prostatitis should seek medical treatment early to prevent worsening of the condition.
