Disease description:

My neighbor has been experiencing persistent lower back pain recently, to the point of being unable to stand upright normally at times. This might be caused by transient osteoporosis. What are the symptoms of transient osteoporosis?

Dr. Xu Shuai
The main symptoms of transient osteoporosis include the following: 1. Pain: Pain commonly occurs in the affected limb, with limited joint movement, especially worsening during weight-bearing activities. 2. Limited mobility: Patients may experience restricted movement due to pain and partial joint dysfunction. 3. Imaging findings: Early X-rays may appear normal, but varying degrees of osteoporosis may develop after 3-6 weeks. MRI can reveal joint effusion within the joint. 4. Disease course: Typically without trauma or infection, clinical symptoms gradually decrease or disappear after 6-10 months, and joint mobility returns to normal. These symptoms are primarily related to local injury or lesions. Medical attention should be sought when necessary to prevent worsening of the condition.
