Dr. Shen Yonghua
The main symptoms of rectal mucosal congestion and edema include: 1. Changes in stool appearance: Due to increased intestinal secretions, mucus may appear in the stool. Additionally, heightened intestinal sensitivity can accelerate peristalsis, leading to loose, unformed stools. 2. Anal pain: Congestion and edema of the rectal mucosa can cause inflammatory secretions to irritate the anus during defecation, resulting in anal pain. Severe cases may lead to rectal prolapse, further aggravating anal swelling and pain. 3. Bleeding: When the rectal mucosa is damaged or inflammation intensifies, capillaries may rupture, causing rectal bleeding that appears as blood in the stool or on the stool surface. 4. Tenesmus: Patients may experience a sensation of rectal fullness, increased frequency of bowel movements, and a persistent feeling of incomplete evacuation after defecation.
