What does soft tissue tumor mean?
Disease description:
My friend has been diagnosed with a soft tissue tumor and wants me to ask what a soft tissue tumor means.

Soft tissue tumors refer to tumors that originate from mesenchymal tissue and are located within soft tissues. These tumors primarily occur in the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system, such as muscles, ligaments, periosteum, fat, and so on. Classified by their nature, soft tissue tumors can be divided into two categories: benign and malignant. Benign tumors are referred to as "tumors," whereas malignant ones are called "sarcomas." The development of soft tissue tumors may be influenced by multiple factors, including but not limited to congenital malformations, familial heredity, foreign body stimulation, chemical stimulation, trauma, and endocrine factors. Patients may present with symptoms such as painless masses, localized warmth, weight loss, and so on, after the onset of disease. Treatment for soft tissue tumors mainly relies on methods such as surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, and the specific treatment plan should be determined according to the nature of the tumor and the individual condition of the patient.
