Disease description:

I've been having diarrhea frequently these two days, and my stool has been mucoid. After going to the hospital for an examination, the doctor said it might be caused by chronic colitis. What are the symptoms of chronic colitis?

The main symptoms of chronic colitis include: 1. Abdominal pain: Usually located in the middle-lower abdomen and lower left abdomen. The pain generally is not severe, often characterized as dull or distending pain, and may occasionally be accompanied by generalized abdominal pain. 2. Diarrhea: This is the most common symptom of chronic colitis. In mild cases, patients may have 3-4 bowel movements per day; in severe cases, the frequency can range from several to more than ten times daily. The stool may contain mucus or pus and blood. 3. Other symptoms: Additional gastrointestinal symptoms may include abdominal distension, acid reflux, nausea, and vomiting, while systemic symptoms may include fever, weight loss, fatigue, and anemia. If the above symptoms occur, prompt medical consultation and treatment are recommended.
