How to treat a paederus beetle sting
Disease description:
I am a 23-year-old male. Recently, as the weather has become increasingly hot and humid, there has been a rise in the number of insects, especially rove beetles. I would like to know how to treat rove beetle bites.

Treatment after a rove beetle sting mainly includes the following steps:
1. Immediate washing: The affected area should be immediately washed with an alkaline solution, such as soap water or sodium bicarbonate solution, for no less than 3 minutes to neutralize the acidic venom released by the beetle and reduce damage caused by the toxin to the skin.
2. Local treatment: Topical ointments can be applied, such as 4% sodium bicarbonate solution, desonide cream, or zinc oxide oil, to relieve allergic skin symptoms. If obvious redness and swelling occur, cold wet compresses with 1% rivanol solution can be used to reduce redness, swelling, heat, and pain.
3. Oral medication: If necessary, oral antihistamines such as cetirizine or loratadine can be taken to alleviate allergic symptoms.
4. Precautions: Avoid scratching the affected area with hands to prevent infection. Additionally, refrain from applying irritants such as alcohol or mosquito repellent onto the wound, as this may worsen symptoms.
Prompt measures should be taken after a rove beetle sting to minimize skin damage caused by the toxin and relieve symptoms. If severe discomfort occurs, seek medical attention promptly.
