What are the symptoms of enteritis?
Disease description:
These days, I've been experiencing severe stomach pain along with diarrhea, and I'm worried it might be enteritis. Could you please tell me what the symptoms of enteritis are?
The main symptoms of enteritis include:
1. Abdominal pain: Mild cases may present with no abdominal pain or only mild discomfort, while moderate to severe cases often experience intermittent pain in the lower left or lower abdomen. The pain may extend across the entire abdomen and typically follows a pattern of pain followed by a bowel urge, with relief after defecation.
2. Diarrhea: This may manifest as mucoid, purulent bloody, or watery stools. The frequency of diarrhea can range from 3-4 times daily to dozens of times in severe cases. Alternating diarrhea and constipation may occur in more serious conditions.
3. Other symptoms: Including constipation (hard stools and difficulty passing stool), abdominal distension, weight loss, fatigue, increased bowel sounds, insomnia, vivid dreams, and cold intolerance. In acute enteritis, additional symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, and tenesmus may also appear.
4. Blood in stool: Enteritis can damage the intestinal mucosa, leading to rectal bleeding. The blood in the stool may appear bright red, dark red, or tarry black.
