Heatstroke Symptoms and Treatment
Disease description:
I've been practicing driving every day recently for my driver's license test. Today, I felt a bit nauseous and dizzy. Is this heatstroke? How should it be treated?
The symptoms of heatstroke vary depending on the severity of the condition:
1. Early-stage heatstroke: dizziness, headache, thirst, weakness in the limbs, profuse sweating, with normal or slightly elevated body temperature (generally not exceeding 37.5℃).
2. Mild heatstroke: in addition to the early symptoms, body temperature rises above 38℃, accompanied by flushed face, chest tightness, hot dry skin, nausea, vomiting, and decreased blood pressure.
3. Severe heatstroke: includes heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke,表现为 high fever (≥40℃), absence of sweating, impaired consciousness, or even coma, which can be life-threatening.
Treatment for heatstroke includes:
1. Rapid cooling: remove from the hot environment, move to a cool place, lower body temperature using cold water or wet towels, and use air conditioning or fans if necessary.
2. Rehydration: drink electrolyte-containing beverages such as light salt water or sports drinks, in small amounts frequently.
3. Medication: heat-relieving medications such as Huoxiang Zhengqi Water or Shidi Shui may be taken. In severe cases, immediate medical attention is required, including intravenous fluid replacement, endotracheal intubation, and other life-saving measures.
Heatstroke presents with diverse symptoms, and treatment should be based on the severity of the condition to implement appropriate interventions.
