Can eating fatty meat cause high blood sugar?
Disease description:
My blood sugar is somewhat elevated. I currently consume very few sweet foods. I'm not sure if I can eat fatty meats. Can eating fatty meat cause high blood sugar?

Eating fatty meat itself does not directly cause an increase in blood sugar levels, but excessive consumption of fatty meat may have an indirect impact on blood glucose levels. Fatty meat is rich in saturated fat and cholesterol; long-term, excessive intake increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and may lead to weight gain and obesity. Obesity is a significant risk factor for diabetes because individuals who are obese often develop insulin resistance—in other words, the body's response to insulin weakens, requiring increased insulin secretion to maintain stable blood sugar levels. When insulin resistance progresses to a certain degree, it may trigger type 2 diabetes, resulting in elevated blood glucose levels. To maintain stable blood sugar levels and overall health, it is advisable to control the intake of fatty meat and focus on a balanced diet that includes foods rich in dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
