Dyshidrotic eczema itself does not directly affect fertility; therefore, women or men with dyshidrotic eczema can become pregnant. Dyshidrotic eczema, also known as pompholyx, is a blistering skin condition that symmetrically affects the hands and/or feet. It commonly occurs in young to middle-aged adults aged 20–40 years, with a higher prevalence in women. The typical skin lesions are small deep blisters within the epidermis, accompanied by varying degrees of itching and burning sensations, and the condition tends to recur frequently. However, during pregnancy, due to changes in hormone levels and overall physical condition, symptoms of dyshidrotic eczema may worsen or become more difficult to control. Therefore, if you are planning to become pregnant or are already pregnant and have dyshidrotic eczema, it is recommended to consult your physician in advance to develop an appropriate treatment and management plan that will help alleviate symptoms and protect the health of both mother and baby.
