What are lymph node nodules?
Disease description:
Male, 32 years old. Recently, I have been feeling discomfort in my neck. After examination, lymph node nodules were found. May I ask what causes lymph node nodules?

Lymph nodes are typically manifestations of the body's immune system response. They are part of the widely distributed lymphatic system, responsible for filtering waste and pathogens from body fluids. When the body encounters infections, inflammation, or certain diseases, lymph nodes may swell and form nodules.
1. **Infection sources**: The most common cause is infection, such as colds, sore throats, or periodontal disease. In such cases, lymph nodes capture and process pathogens, leading to localized swelling of lymph nodes, such as those in the neck, armpits, or groin.
2. **Inflammatory response**: Chronic inflammatory diseases may also cause lymph node enlargement, for example, rheumatoid arthritis or Crohn's disease.
3. **Tumors**: Malignant tumors such as cancer can also lead to swollen lymph nodes, especially when cancer cells spread to the lymphatic system, a process known as lymph node metastasis.
4. **Other causes**: Certain viral infections, such as HIV, and autoimmune diseases may also affect lymph nodes.
Note that if swollen lymph nodes persist, grow rapidly, or are accompanied by symptoms such as fever or weight loss, immediate medical attention should be sought.
