Acne, also known as pimples, can generally be treated with metronidazole gel. Acne is a common chronic inflammatory skin condition usually caused by improper skincare routines, excessive mental stress, or overproduction of sebum that leads to blockage of hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Acne commonly occurs on the face, chest, or shoulders and back, and may present with symptoms such as pain, pus-filled blisters, or blackheads. Metronidazole gel is a transparent yellow gel containing ingredients such as metronidazole, propylene glycol, or alcohol. After application, it can inhibit bacterial metabolism, achieving anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, and thus has a relatively good therapeutic effect on acne. Patients are advised not to scratch acne lesions with their hands to avoid scarring. Under a doctor's guidance, anti-infective medications such as roxithromycin, minocycline, or doxycycline may be prescribed. Drinking more warm water regularly can accelerate the body's metabolism and aid in faster recovery from acne. Dietary habits should also be monitored; patients should avoid consuming excessively oily foods to prevent aggravating the condition.
