Seborrheic dermatitis is generally non-contagious and not infectious. Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition occurring in areas with excessive sebum production. It may be caused by genetic factors, Malassezia infection, or other factors such as dietary imbalances. Typically, yellowish-red patches appear on the skin, covered with oily scales, accompanied by itching. Since seborrheic dermatitis is not a contagious disease, it generally does not spread from person to person. After diagnosis, patients can apply topical medications such as tacrolimus ointment, hydrocortisone butyrate cream, or compound ketoconazole cream under a doctor's guidance. These medications can help alleviate symptoms after application. If severe itching occurs, oral antihistamines such as chlorpheniramine maleate tablets, loratadine tablets, or cetirizine hydrochloride tablets may be taken under medical supervision to relieve itching. In daily life, patients should avoid consuming spicy and irritating foods, such as chili peppers, spicy hot pot, and spicy snacks, to prevent exacerbation of symptoms.
