Dr. Yang Ziqi

Polio vaccine is primarily used to prevent poliomyelitis and is very safe and effective. Common adverse reactions are usually mild and include:

1. Injection site reactions: Mild redness, swelling, pain, or tenderness may occur after vaccination and generally subsides within 24-48 hours.

2. Mild fever: Some children may experience a low-grade fever after vaccination, which can usually be relieved by drinking more water and resting.

3. Mild discomfort: There may be temporary muscle pain or a feeling of fatigue, which does not last long.

In rare cases, more severe allergic reactions may occur, such as rash, difficulty breathing, or anaphylactic shock. If a severe reaction occurs, seek medical attention immediately.
