Dr. Wang Xin
Telmisartan tablets, as a long-acting oral angiotensin II receptor antagonist, have a significant antihypertensive effect. Multiple studies have shown that telmisartan tablets can effectively lower blood pressure, particularly in patients with mild to moderate hypertension. The antihypertensive effect usually becomes evident within 4–8 weeks after initiation of treatment and can be maintained during long-term therapy. In addition, telmisartan tablets can improve cardiovascular and renal function, reduce myocardial hypertrophy and cardiac load, and inhibit the biological effects of angiotensin II in the kidneys, thereby reducing adverse renal effects. Telmisartan tablets are also associated with relatively high safety and few adverse reactions. Common adverse reactions include headache, dizziness, and fatigue, which generally do not require special treatment. However, in rare cases, patients may experience severe allergic reactions or hypotension, and immediate medical attention is required in such situations.
