The method of using a rectal suppository is as follows: 1. Preparation: Wash your hands and the anal area thoroughly to ensure hygiene. Then, put on disposable finger cots or gloves, and prepare an appropriate amount of lubricant (such as petroleum jelly, mineral oil, or vegetable oil), applying it around the anus to reduce friction and discomfort. 2. Insertion procedure: Open the suppository packaging and remove the suppository. Lie on your side, relax the anal muscles, and take deep breaths to help relax. Aim the pointed end of the suppository at the anus and gently insert it, using your finger to slowly push it into the rectum. In adults, the usual insertion depth is about 3 centimeters; in children, it is approximately 2 centimeters. Keep your legs closed and remain lying on your side for about 15 minutes to prevent the suppository from being expelled. 3. Aftercare: After insertion, remove the gloves, wipe away any excess lubricant from around the anus, and put on your pants. Avoid defecation for 1 to 2 hours after using the suppository, to ensure sufficient retention time in the rectum and allow the medication to work effectively. If you have any questions or experience discomfort, please consult your doctor promptly.
