Can I eat pomelo if I have high uric acid levels?
Disease description:
I personally enjoy eating pomelo, as I find it sweet and sour with a delicious taste. However, I have a condition of high uric acid levels and would like to know: is it safe for someone with high uric acid to eat pomelo?

Patients with high uric acid levels can consume pomelo. Pomelo is a low-purine fruit, with purine levels significantly lower than those considered high-purine foods. Therefore, moderate consumption of pomelo will not markedly increase uric acid levels or worsen symptoms associated with high uric acid. In addition to its low purine content, pomelo is rich in various nutrients, including vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, and minerals, which are beneficial to overall health. These nutrients help replenish essential substances in the body and promote the metabolism and excretion of uric acid. Pomelo also has properties that help clear heat, promote urination, produce bodily fluids, and relieve thirst, thereby helping to alleviate discomfort caused by elevated uric acid levels. It should be noted, however, that pomelo is a cooling food, and excessive consumption may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, such as stomach pain or diarrhea. Therefore, patients with high uric acid levels should control their intake of pomelo, with a recommended daily consumption of approximately 100–200 grams.
