Can I eat black rice if I have high uric acid levels?
Disease description:
I really enjoy eating foods made with black rice, as I find them especially delicious. However, I currently have high uric acid levels and would like to know if it's safe for me to consume black rice.

Patients with high uric acid levels can consume black rice in moderation. As a type of whole grain, black rice has a moderate purine content, with approximately 59mg of purines per 100 grams. Therefore, moderate consumption will not significantly increase uric acid levels. Black rice is rich in carbohydrates, protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, B-complex vitamins, and dietary fiber, which help supplement essential nutrients, promote intestinal motility, and reduce constipation. These benefits make black rice advantageous for the health of patients with elevated uric acid levels. However, because black rice is covered by a seed coat that may make it harder to digest, patients with high uric acid levels who also experience indigestion should moderate their intake to avoid increasing the gastrointestinal burden. Additionally, patients with high uric acid should also limit their intake of high-purine foods such as animal offal and seafood, and drink adequate amounts of water to promote uric acid excretion.
