Gout patients can适量drink lotus leaf tea in moderation. Lotus leaf tea is made by steeping lotus leaves in hot water. Lotus leaves contain very low levels of purines, and lotus leaf tea offers multiple benefits including diuresis, laxative effects, heat-clearing, and lipid reduction. Moderate consumption helps promote uric acid excretion. Additionally, as an alkaline beverage, lotus leaf tea is more conducive to uric acid elimination. For patients with gout complicated by hyperlipidemia, lotus leaf tea may also help lower lipids and aid weight loss; long-term moderate consumption is beneficial for uric acid excretion. It should be noted, however, that excessive or overly concentrated lotus leaf tea should be avoided to prevent adverse effects such as nausea, abdominal distension, and diarrhea, which might interfere with uric acid metabolism. Furthermore, bottled beverages containing lotus leaf tea should be avoided as much as possible due to their potential high sugar content and other additives.
