Will underarm hair still grow after surgery for axillary odor?
Disease description:
I am planning to undergo surgery for axillary odor (body odor), but I am worried that after the surgery, my underarm hair may no longer grow. Will underarm hair still grow after axillary odor surgery?
Under normal circumstances, armpit hair will still grow after surgery for axillary odor. The primary purpose of axillary odor surgery is to remove the apocrine sweat glands in the armpit area through minimally invasive methods, thereby eliminating body odor. During the surgical procedure, the local hair follicles are typically not damaged; therefore, armpit hair generally continues to grow after surgery. However, if the hair follicles are somewhat damaged during surgery, or if they are affected by medications, diet, or other factors afterward, the growth rate and density of armpit hair may change. Overall, it is quite common for armpit hair to regrow after axillary odor surgery, and this phenomenon is generally not a cause for concern. If removal of armpit hair is desired, medical aesthetic procedures such as cryo-epilation can be considered.
