In general, patients with gout are not advised to consume chicken soup, especially during acute attacks. This is because chicken soup contains relatively high levels of purines, and the longer the cooking time, the higher the concentration of purines tends to be. Consuming high-purine foods can increase uric acid production in the body, potentially triggering or worsening gout symptoms. In addition, chicken soup often contains substantial amounts of fat, which is not conducive to the health of patients with gout. If a patient is in a remission phase of gout and their uric acid levels are well controlled, they may occasionally consume small amounts of mild, low-fat chicken soup, although intake should still be carefully monitored. Chicken soup contains abundant nutrients such as protein, calcium, iron, and vitamins, and moderate consumption can provide necessary nutritional support. Patients with gout should primarily follow a diet based on low-purine foods and avoid high-purine foods to control uric acid levels and reduce the risk of gout attacks.
