Can people with gout eat snow lotus fruit?
Disease description:
My father has had gout for more than a year and hasn't been completely cured. He now has many dietary restrictions. Yesterday, our family bought some yacón (Smallanthus sonchifolius) to eat. I would like to ask whether people with gout can consume yacón?

Gout patients can consume yacon, but should do so in moderation. Yacon is a low-purine food, containing approximately 25 mg of purines per 100 grams. Moderate consumption generally does not cause a significant increase in uric acid levels, thus not adversely affecting gout conditions. In addition, yacon is rich in trace elements, minerals, vitamins, carotene, and dietary fiber, all of which are beneficial to health. It also aids digestion and has diuretic properties, which may help alleviate symptoms in gout patients. Although yacon is beneficial for gout patients, it should not be consumed in excess to avoid placing additional strain on the gastrointestinal system and causing discomfort.
