Patients with gout can consume water spinach. As a common vegetable, water spinach has a relatively low purine content. Therefore, consuming water spinach does not lead to abnormal purine metabolism or a significant increase in uric acid levels, thus not triggering or worsening gout symptoms. Additionally, water spinach is rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin A, and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, and iron. These nutrients offer multiple health benefits, including promoting gastrointestinal digestion and absorption, and enhancing immunity. Thus, patients with gout can moderately consume water spinach as part of their daily diet without adverse effects on their condition, and it may even help supplement essential nutrients for the body.
