Early symptoms of mastitis
Disease description:
Recently, I felt a lump around my own breast and I'm very worried. I would like to ask, what are the early symptoms of mastitis?
Mastitis is an infection of breast tissue, commonly seen in lactating women, but it can also occur in non-lactating individuals. Early symptoms of mastitis may include:
1. Breast pain: Usually affecting one breast, with increased tenderness upon touch; sometimes the entire breast may feel sore.
2. Redness of the breast: The skin in the affected area may turn red, appearing darker than the surrounding skin.
3. Swelling: Part or all of the breast may become enlarged.
4. Tender lump: A firm, painful area may be felt within the breast tissue.
5. Elevated body temperature: This may be accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever and chills, indicating the body's response to infection.
6. Nipple discharge: There may be pus-like or blood-tinged milk secretion.
If these symptoms appear, especially in lactating women, immediate medical consultation is recommended.
