Gout patients are not advised to consume mutton soup, mainly for the following reasons: 1. **High purine content**: Mutton itself contains a moderate amount of purines, and purines are easily dissolved in water. When mutton is cooked into soup, excessive purines dissolve into the broth, significantly increasing the purine content of the soup. Gout is a condition caused by disturbances in purine metabolism, leading to elevated uric acid levels. Therefore, consuming foods high in purines may trigger or worsen gout symptoms. 2. **Impaired uric acid metabolism**: The purine components in mutton soup are absorbed by the body and then converted into uric acid, increasing the level of uric acid in the body. High uric acid levels can further lead to deposition of urate crystals in joints, soft tissues, and other areas, thereby triggering or worsening gout symptoms. 3. **Limited nutritional value**: Although mutton soup has some nutritional value, its nutrient content is not as rich as that obtained from eating the meat directly. Moreover, the fat and salt content in the soup may also be detrimental to patients with gout.
