Gout patients can eat scallions, but should do so in moderation. Scallions, as a vegetable, are rich in vitamins, proteins, and other nutrients, and are considered low-purine food. The purine content in 100 grams of scallions is approximately 38.2 mg. Moderate consumption generally does not affect the body's uric acid levels or trigger gout attacks or worsen symptoms. However, scallions are relatively spicy, and excessive consumption may overly stimulate the gastrointestinal mucosa, potentially causing discomfort such as abdominal pain and nausea, and may even affect overall health and be detrimental to the management of gout. Therefore, gout patients should consume scallions in moderation and avoid excessive intake. At the same time, they should also follow gout dietary principles, such as a low-purine diet, drinking plenty of water, and abstaining from alcohol, to maintain good health.
