Can I eat duck or chicken meat if I have gout?
Disease description:
I have had gout for some time now and have been receiving treatment for a while. I usually eat pork. May I ask if I can eat duck or chicken meat during the course of this condition?

Gout patients can consume duck and chicken meat, but should pay attention to the quantity and timing of consumption. Both duck and chicken meats are considered moderate in purine content, containing approximately 138.4 mg and 140 mg of purines per 100 grams, respectively. During acute gout arthritis attacks, patients are advised to avoid consuming these meats to prevent worsening of symptoms. After the gout attack has subsided and the patient's serum uric acid levels are controlled within the target range, duck and chicken meat may be consumed in moderation and with caution. Patients should still avoid excessive intake to prevent fluctuations in uric acid levels. In addition, gout patients should avoid drinking duck or chicken broth, as the purine content in the broth is high and may easily lead to increased uric acid levels.
