Gout patients can consume cheese, but should do so in moderation. Cheese is a fermented dairy product with relatively low purine content, containing approximately 20-32 mg of purines per 100 grams, which places it within the low-purine food category. Therefore, moderate consumption of cheese generally does not cause a significant increase in uric acid levels in patients with gout nor trigger acute gout attacks. Cheese contains a certain amount of sugar and fat, and excessive consumption may increase the body's burden and be detrimental to health. Particularly for gout patients with abnormal glucose metabolism, cheese intake should be controlled to avoid worsening of their condition. In addition, gout patients should also pay attention to avoiding high-purine foods, limiting fructose and alcohol intake, and maintaining sufficient water consumption to promote uric acid excretion.
