In medicine, a fetus at five months is already quite developed. Terminating a pregnancy at this stage is usually referred to as a mid-trimester induction rather than an early miscarriage. Mid-trimester inductions are typically considered only due to severe fetal abnormalities, maternal health concerns, or other medical indications.

Methods of induction include medication-induced labor and surgical procedures. Medication-induced labor may involve using prostaglandin drugs to cause uterine contractions, expelling the fetus and placenta. Surgical induction may involve procedures such as amniocentesis-induced labor or surgical evacuation, both of which must be performed by qualified healthcare professionals within medical facilities.

Induction may carry certain risks, such as bleeding, infection, or uterine damage. Therefore, if a situation arises where induction is being considered, it is important to consult a doctor promptly to discuss the most appropriate course of action and proceed under medical supervision.
