Why has my chest been swollen and painful for the past half month?
Disease description:
I have experienced significant pain upon pressing my chest recently, and even without pressing, there is still some discomfort. What could be causing the swelling and pain in my chest over the past two weeks?

Breast swelling and pain may be caused by, but are not limited to, the following factors:
1. Physiological cycle: In women, this may be related to the menstrual cycle, particularly around ovulation or just before menstruation, as hormonal changes can lead to breast swelling and tenderness.
2. Fibrocystic changes: Non-cancerous proliferation of breast tissue, commonly seen in women of reproductive age, can cause cyclical breast pain and swelling.
3. Infection: Mastitis, especially in breastfeeding women, may cause redness, pain, swelling, and fever in the breast.
4. Pressure or injury: Muscle tension or trauma may also cause discomfort in the chest area.
5. Hormonal changes: In addition to the menstrual cycle, hormone replacement therapy or certain medications may also contribute to breast swelling and pain.
If the pain persists, is severe, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as nipple discharge, skin changes, or a lump, prompt medical evaluation is recommended.
